“If we don’t stand up for children, then we don’t stand up for much.” Marian Wright Edelman

Neighborhood

Educare New Orleans opened its doors in 2013 on the site of the former St. Bernard housing development. Columbia Parc, a comprehensive community model designed by the Bayou District Foundation, is a 685 mixed income residential unit development that spans 18 city blocks in the Gentilly neighborhood.

  • Columbia Parc utilizes a “Purpose Built Community Model” of neighborhood transformation that includes Educare New Orleans as the first step in a “cradle to career” educational pathway.
  • Their mission is to prevent the achievement gap that takes root between children from low-income families and their middle-income peers long before they enter kindergarten.
  • In partnership with the Bayou District Foundation, we provide multi-generational wrap-around services to support parents and caregivers in reaching their personal goals.
